High-voltage test equipment serves as the core, comprising adjustable high-voltage DC generators, power-frequency AC withstand voltage test systems, and variable-frequency series resonant withstand voltage test sets, which are used for conducting withstand voltage and partial discharge (PD) tests. A partial discharge detection system must feature high sensitivity and strong anti-interference capabilities; it typically consists of a coupling capacitor, a detection impedance, and an analysis unit. Insulation resistance testers are used to measure the resistance of insulation and sheaths, while dielectric loss testers are employed for the precise measurement of the tanδ value.

In addition, the setup requires DC resistance testers, cable fault location equipment (such as high-voltage pulse generators, cable path tracers, and pinpointing devices), outer sheath testers, as well as instruments for material analysis, including tensile testing machines and thermal elongation test apparatus. All instruments must meet the accuracy requirements stipulated by relevant standards and undergo periodic metrological calibration.
